Pride+Allies will be hosting a Mandala drawing class. This class will be for all levels, beginner to advanced. We will provide all materials needed (compass, protractor, ruler, paper), but you are welcome to bring your own if you have some that you like! I have attached a document with some of the mandalas I have drawn (from simple to complex) as well as the RSVP form. Please RSVP by Feb. 3 so we can provide all needed materials. We think we will be able to provide some snacks for this event, so please make sure to add your food allergies/sensitivities in the form as well!
Mandalas are a symbol that in many cultures around the world symbolize introspection and encourage peace of mind for both creators and viewers. In some religions, it is used as a meditative tool and spiritual exercise. This meditative property of drawing mandalas is what we will focus on, hoping to create peace of mind for ourselves in the midst of such a tough time of year, especially for the students of the CVM. It is very important to us as an organization that we respect the religious and cultural origins of the mandala while utilizing its meditative and mindful benefits in a more secular way.
